Cinema Red and Blue
A supergroup of sorts (certainly there will be those who consider a project featuring luminaries from the likes of Comet Gain, Crystal Stilts and The Clean as being super), this apparently one-off project should find a welcome from fans of jangly 80s indie. CG's David Feck proves to be the driving force behind a fistful of tremulous new material which sits cosily beside covers of tracks by The Chills and Julian Cope among others. A jaunty trip aboard a version of The West Coast Pop Experimental Band's 'Roger The Rocket Ship' is typical and, while this is presented as a bit of a lighthearted affair, there's a depth to the material that bears further fruit with repeat plays. With very little in the way of notice, this is a real under-the-radar release that justifies the effort.
