Bad Religion - The Dissent Of Man

For this, their fifteenth studio album, veteran punks Bad Religion stated that there would be some stylistic changes to their well honed template; sadly the mooted mariachi/electronica crossover epic hasn’t seen the light of day. So, what have they actually delivered? The opening trio of ‘The Day Earth Stalled’, ‘Only Rain’ and ‘The Resist Stance’ offer up the type of rapid fire, politically charged punk rock that they are renowned for but don’t appear to deliver any dramatic charges. As the album progresses there is a slight softening on some of the songs with ‘Cyanide' and album closer ‘I Won’t Say Anything’ being prime examples but, in reality, the changes are so minor as to be almost unnoticeable. What we are left with is a typically solid Bad Religion album that will be seized on by their army of loyal fans but is unlikely to pick up the crowd of fans left disillusioned at the lack of political insight on the latest Lady Gaga album.
