Pariah - Safehouses

On the evidence of this six track, thirty minute EP, London-based producer Pariah occupies a similar place on the dubstep scale as Burial. Safehouses is accessible without ever feeling that it’s taking an easy commercial route (cough – Magnetic Man – cough). Unlike Burial, however, Pariah is interested in twinkling euphoria rather than heartbreaking urban gloom: 'Prism' has a particularly fantastic build; when the snatched vocal pulls into focus, low end bass is swapped for high end bliss. The EP also offers glimpses of drum ‘n’ bass and garage, while the title track is, surprisingly, an ambient wash. Album, please!
