Kasper Rosa - EP2

There seems to be a hotbed of proggy/instrumental talent emerging from Ireland at the moment, with And So I Watch You From Afar spearheading a refreshingly bullshit free approach to rock music. Kasper Rosa are next in line to the throne and their latest EP2 showcases exactly why this band have been opening for acts like Earth and 65daysofstatic. Discordant guitars, complex riff attacks and a melodic edge which cuts right through is what makes this so enjoyable to listen to. Floydian guitar solos mix together with jittery drum patterns on 'Scaling Mount Improbable' while the atmospheric 'The Version of the Facts' puts them firmly in the proggier end of the spectrum. With progressive-rock enjoying a resurgence as of recently, there's no better time for these guys to appear and they've got the musicianship and song-writing skill to take them a long way.
