Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
The new, self-titled release from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly sees Sam Duckworth in a more buoyant mood than on previous albums. Released on an independent label, Duckworth's third album follows on from Searching For Hows And Whys with its simple folk-rock sound, but this time with an upbeat edge and less interesting arrangements. The most experimental moments here come from tracks like ‘Collapsing Cities’ which sees Sam hook up with drum’n’bass outfit ShyFX though the track ends up sounding more like dated 90s garage than experimental folk-rock. Tracks such as ‘Hand Me Down’ and ‘The Plot’ are reminiscent of his debut album which made him such an exciting new talent. The best tracks here are those that are stripped back and show an endearing naivety and sincerity; the rest are simply disappointing.
