Emiliana Torrini - Rarities

That an expanded Emiliana Torrini rarities collection is a curate's egg is a given and this is obviously a collection for the fans alone. What's unforgivable though, is how clumsily this is assembled. By putting several remixes of the same track together, what you end up with is a fundamentally unlistenable end product, designed for iTunes libraries rather than listening as a collection. It's inconceivable that anyone would listen to either disc from start to finish – I like 'Easy' as much as the next guy, but four versions on the same disc gets a bit much. The music in itself (the trying remixes aside) is fine, with the vaguely bluesy, atmospheric 'Tuna Fish' and the trip-hoppy, Bjork-y 'Weird Friendless Kid' as standouts, but this is very much one for the fans – you already know if you want this.
