BURNS - 001: European Sex Music
On his debut mix album, 24-year-old Brit BURNS shows impressively eclectic taste across two discs. There's everything from 'proper' disco to hard-ish techno, not to mention a few more offbeat choices. The Metronomy remix of Lykke Li's 'I'm Good I'm Gone' is an atmospheric, Italo disco-flavoured gem, while Yelle's 'Ce Jeu' is cheesy French pop and sure to have you either whistling along with glee or clamping hands tightly over your ears. It's not all other people's work, however; there's plenty of BURNS here as either remixer (for the likes of Gossip and Empire of the Sun) or producer. It's tracks falling into the latter category, particularly the Daft Punk-ish 'So Many Nights' and 'Heartbeats', that should have you positively drooling for a debut artist album.
