Windows 8 Consumer Preview
Microsoft has announced its Windows 8 Consumer Preview event at the end of February. Taking advantage of the extra day this leap year on Feb 29th, Microsoft is expected to unveil the Windows 8 Beta at its Barcelona event.
This should mean that anyone can download and run the preview version of Windows 8 and have a play around with the Metro interface and the new disk management technology ReFS or Resilient Filing System which will replace FAT32 and NTFS. Internet Explorer 10 will also be something new to try out.
As with the Windows 7 previews, the Windows 8 preview will likely function until a few months after the final version of Windows 8 launches at some point in the 3rd quarter of this year.
