"Chimera" Monkeys usher in new era in species manipulation

Scientists have created the first 'Chimera' monkeys. The monkeys, were created by combining the cells of multiple embryos before using the resulting concoction to impregnate female monkeys. Three Rhesus monkeys were born, the result of combing the cells from up to six distinct embryos.

Previous 'chimera' organisms were restricted to mice, this is the first time that monkeys were used in experiments and it is thought that the results of these investigations will help scientists better understand human genetics.

They may look cute now, but it's only a few small steps from here to an Ape revolution... We'll be the first in line to book our ticket on Virgin Galactic if one of these little fur balls learns to speak.
