This evening a significant number of UK banks and organisations appear to be offline in what appears to be a network outage that has affected the entire Lloyds owned range of banks and building societies alongside a number of other providers.
The outage started after around 6pm this evening across the main Lloyds Bank website, Halifax, Royal Bank of Scotland and some credit card providers including MBNA.
The issue appears to be somewhere relating to the domain name resolution of the banking websites but we’re waiting for further clarity on the underlying issue.
This latest outage ironically comes on the day that UK government ministers demanded action on an increasing number of online banking outages. They have suggested that financial levies should be placed upon banks who suffer customer-facing outages and that more regulation is needed.
