Doctor Who audio drama, Chase The Night, will bring together Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor and Jane Asher

Big Finish have announced that Jane Asher is to team up with Tom Baker's incarnation of the fugitive Timelord in their new audio drama, Doctor Who: Chase The Night which is set for release in January 2020.

On being cast in this exciting Doctor Who audio drama, Jane Asher said: “Obviously, the whole franchise is extraordinary. I’ve been lucky enough to do a Sarah Jane Adventures and a Torchwood in the past, which was lovely, but this is the first sort of proper Doctor Who, with a real Doctor in attendance. It’s wonderful.

“Tom Baker and I knew each other at the Bristol Old Vic in the late 1960s, so it’s a treat to work with him again, and with Lalla Ward, too, who I haven’t seen for a long time.”

Doctor Who: Chase The Night features the Fourth Doctor’s companions from the early 1980s era of the television series, including fellow Time Lord, Romana (Lalla Ward), alien whiz-kid Adric (Matthew Waterhouse) and the Doctor’s robotic dog, K-9 (John Leeson).

Director Nicholas Briggs added: “I really loved working with Jane Asher. She’s a sort of national treasure, isn’t she? I remember, I met her ages ago, back in the 1980s, when I was working in sound production, putting microphones on people for a live cookery stage show. I planted a microphone on her and she was very gracious. Needless to say, she didn’t remember that. But for me she’s a bit of a legend. I mean, she was in The Stone Tape!”

Doctor Who: Chase the Night is now available for pre-order as a digital download for just £12.99 from the Big Finish website. It is also part of the Fourth Doctor Adventures: Series 09 Volume 1 which is also available for pre-order as a collector’s edition CD or on download from £19.99.
