London's Earls Court 2 will be invaded this weekend by a host of stars from the world of comics, sci-fi and fantasy - and a great number of cosplayers turning up as their favourite characters as London Film and Comic Con opens it's doors to visitors.

It's Stan Lee's final appearance in Europe, and his farewell 'Audience with' event is set to be a packed and typically fascinating one. Elsewhere, three Doctors descend on London with Colin Baker (No. 6), Paul McGann (No. 8) and John Hurt (No. .. er.. The War Doctor) in attendance with a host of classic and current companions.

The Comic Zone is also open for business with some of the finest mainstream and indie comics creators and artists and the new Comics Masterclass series of events giving guidance on creating characters, dynamic drawing and colouring amongst others.

Highlights include:

- a preview of the official Sherlock convention
- a highly anticipated Doctor Who talk with Steven Moffat, John Hurt and Paul McGann
- Optimus Prime and his colleague Bumblebee will be in attendance

The London Film and Comic Con is on for three days with a preview evening tonight and the main event across Saturday and Sunday.

MCM Manchester 2013
Meanwhile Manchester is almost ready to get its geek on for the biggest convention in the North West!

Following a record attendance of over 19,300 visitors in 2013, this years MCM Manchester Comic Con is the biggest yet - that big it's taking over Manchester Central for two days on 19 and 20 July!

The North West’s premier festival of popular culture will play host to everything from the newest games to movie and sci-fi special guests, from the talented artists and writers of the Comic Village to the colourful competition that is the cosplay masquerade. On top of that, you’ll be able to check out a host of retailers selling everything from replica lightsabres to the latest anime.

- Get back to the originals with the retro gaming zone

- acclaimed comic creators will be in the Comic Village including including John McCrea, Martin Griffiths, Lee Townsend, John-Paul Bove, Jack Lawrence and Lee Bradley
