"I am a control freak though so I tend to be annoying and take over" Idle chit-chat with Anna Morris

Hey Anna, hope you’re doing amazingly well. So, what have you been up to today?

Well today I’ve been sleeping a lot as I have a virus and it’s VERY boring!

And where are you right now?

In my bedroom trying to make myself get up!

So, gotta check, how the hell have your first few shows been?

They’ve been great. Full houses and lovely audiences. Sadly had to pull one because of this virus but I’ve been battling on and determined to finish the run.

And you those that haven’t seen your show tell us what you can about ‘Bombastic’, in two sentences?

Award-winning fearless character comedy. Four of my favourite characters from four sell-out shows.

Was your inspiration the Shaggy song of the same name?

Ha ha no. It was 'Bombastic' by Bonnie McKee which is a great and empowering song. I also think my characters are Bombastic - they are all so deluded and talk sh*t!

But seriously, what’s Shaggy's song about? It’s chorus is basically “I'm Mr. Boombastic say me fantastic touch me in my back she says I'm Mr Ro...mantic”. WTF?

This is a good point. I have managed to actually get that song into the show as I felt it would be rude not to. F**k knows what it means…!

Sorry, back to you, your website is ace. I’m always a miserable git about the state of comedian’s websites but nope, yours is brill. But still, the about section is a little light. So in the style of a haiku, tell us about you.

Challenge accepted:

A half-deaf woman

Who loves doing characters

And improv as well

Describe your comedy style.

Fearless ridiculous characters all with a dark twist.

You’re doing most (all?) of your own management/promotion/etc, how hard is Edinburgh without a “team” to send to get you a sandwich and that kind of thing.

I have a promoter so don’t do it all myself. I am a control freak though so I tend to be annoying and take over. It’s hard even when you have a team!

You’ve done a bit of acting, if you were in Eastenders - and you will be, everyone ends up there when their career is done - what character would you play?

Ooh something against type - like a serial killer. Or corpse.

There’s a lot of talk about female comedians on TV and comedy bills, what’s your experience of being a woman in the comedy world?

Just the same as a man I expect.

What’s the TV or radio show you’d like to be on most?

The Windsors, Motherland or Mum.

What makes you laugh most in life?

My Mum.

Tell us a charity we should support. And why.

Newlife - a charity for disabled children. Because they have been amazing for my niece Daisy and provided her with play equipment.

When was the last time you were starstruck?

I met Sharon Horgan the other month at a Channel 4 thing - tried to play it cool but probably talked shit at her. She’s amazing.

What other comedian(s) is/are worth checking out?

Steen Raskoplous, Alison Thea Skott, Will Andrews, Luisa Omielan - to name but a few!

What’s the question we should have asked you today but haven’t?

Is this your last show? YES it might be.

Finally, how do you take your coffee?

Oh, actually, last question is what type of cake are you giving out at your shows?

Bombastic Brownies of course!

Get yourself to Anna's show, she gives out brownies and is very ill, so support the heck out of her. She's at the Voodoo Rooms at 4:40 every day. Ticket are on sale now.

If you want to find out more than's included in the in-depth interview then check out Anna's very nice website, follow her on Twitter.
