(Near) real-time translation via Raspberry Pi!
Some stunning work here by Will Powell - a Google Glass inspired translation device that uses ultra-cheap Raspberry Pi hardware and some proper home-grown ingenuity to take audio conversations and subtitle them in near-real-time!
This kind of gadget is what gets us excited about Raspberry Pi - it's giving people a chance to build solid working prototypes for little outlay. The device is in it's early stages, which leads to lag in conversations, but it's a brilliant idea that is far more perfectly realized than we have any right to expect and it can only get better.
Translators such as this will open all sorts of possibilities that language barriers usually prevent.
