Orbital Comics are set to stop stocking weekly comic book releases - and it's partly the fault of Brexit

We're sad to share that Bleeding Cool are reporting that one of the UK's premiere comic retailers, London's Orbital Comics are set to stop selling weekly comic book releases - and the reason is the drop in the value of the pound thanks to the continued idiocy that is Brexit.

The combination of high costs and falling value of currency has made the trade in weeklies unprofitable to the point that Orbital are now being forced to pull out of the market and will instead change their focus on to something else. The store is a central place for comic fans in the capital with both a gallery space and room to throw events which we understand will continue, but comic sales will no longer be one of the key aspects of the store.

With physical stores increasingly finding it difficult to make ends meet we fully expect there to be more announcements along these lines, especially in niche markets such as weekly comic sales.

We need your help

Running a website like The Digital Fix - especially one with over 20 years of content and an active community - costs lots of money and we need your help. As advertising income for independent sites continues to contract we are looking at other ways of supporting the site hosting and paying for content.

You can help us by using the links on The Digital Fix to buy your films, games and music and we ask that you try to avoid blocking our ads if you can. You can also help directly for just a few pennies per day via our Patreon - and you can even pay to have ads removed from the site entirely.
