Unexpected 'missile' launch photographed from space
This is a bit of an odd one. About seven hours ago ESA astronaut Luca Parmanito sent a tweet from the ISS featuring what appears to be the trail left from an unidentified missile launch.

The wavy nature of the trail is the result of atmospheric currents and the source of the missile is unknown. It appears to have exploded or disintegrated high in the atmosophere.
Parmanito subsequently sent another tweet allegedly showing a debris cloud formed following the explosion/disintegration.

It's a fascinating duo of images that depict something few of us will ever get to see, but there's that concern stemming from the knowledge that we don't actually know what the missile was, who launched it AND for what purpose...
