Windows Blue due later this year

Microsoft has confirmed that it will release Windows Blue later this year. Users have not fallen for Windows 8's tiled interface, with the lack of a Start button proving particularly annoying, and Blue is assumed to include a remedy for some of those ongoing criticisms of the new operating system.

Microsoft CMO Tami Reller aid that Windows Blue will be released to "respond to the customer feedback" that she said Microsoft had been "closely listening to since the launch of Windows 8".

The company also claimed that they had has sold 100 million Windows 8 licences, which included OEM licences and upgrade licences.

Reller said, "Windows Blue is a codename for an update that will be available later this year, building on the bold vision set forward with Windows 8 to deliver the next generation of tablets and PCs. It will deliver the latest new innovations across an increasingly broad array of form factors of all sizes, display, battery life and performance, while creating new opportunities for our ecosystem."
