EE hook up with Glastonbury Festival

EE, have announced they will be the official technology and communications partner of the 2013 Glastonbury Festival, taking over from sister brand Orange.

They plan to instal the first ever dedicated 4G network at a UK festival. EE will also further increase its 2G and 3G network capacity at the site.

An official mobile 'Glastonbury 2013' mobile app will go live in early June - and available free of charge - will include performance scheduling tools, interactive and GPS enabled mapping, official direct updates from the Glastonbury team, social network plug ins, artist info, and be continuously updated content for users both on and off site.

Two large ‘EE Recharge’ tents on site will cater for tens of thousands of people over the weekend, offering a space for festival-goers - irrespective of which mobile network they are with - a space to relax and recharge their batteries whilst they recharge their mobile devices, free of charge. Hundreds of charging points for multiple types of device will be available, including ‘retro’ spaces for those with older handsets. Visitors to the tents will be able to connect their devices to dedicated mobile Wi-Fi networks powered by EE’s 4G network meaning all smartphone users can try out EE’s 4G speeds – no matter which network they’re on.
