Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order only has a male protagonist for this reason...Platforms: PC | Google Stadia | Sony PlayStation 4 | Microsoft Xbox One
With Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order hitting shelves today and sadly one thing appears to be lacking - the ability to play as a woman. With Rey heading up the big-screen franchise and Jyn Erso the lead of Rogue One it would appear that the developers at Respawn felt that might be saturation point for non-male leads...
In an interview with Game Informer, the game's director Stig Asmussen, told them the reasoning behind the lack of a playable woman character in the game.
He said "We talked about different gender. We arrived where we were because at the time, Rey was the thing for Star Wars, and so it made a lot more sense for us to have a male protagonist."
Clearly one woman lead at any one time is too much - while Star Wars has had a number of strong women in the franchise - Padme, Leia, Rey, Jyn Erso - they have been roundly outnumbered by male characters so it's a shame that Respawn and EA couldn't have, at the very least, made a female lead an option for players.
