SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated announced - remake adds new multiplayer modePlatforms: Nintendo Switch | Sony PlayStation 4 | Microsoft Xbox One | PC
THQ Nordic has announced SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, a remake of the 2003 cult classic for current-gen consoles.
Revealing the news on Twitter, THQ Nordic announced that the "faithfully remade" game "isn't coming to E3", but will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Though no release date was given, considering the nature of the title, release surely won't be too far away.
The short teaser trailer above was accompanied by a description of the remake:
"Are you ready, kids? The cult classic is back, faithfully remade in spongetastic splendor! Play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy and show the evil Plankton that crime pays even less than Mr. Krabs. Want to save Bikini Bottom from lots of rampant robots? Of course you do! Want to underpants bungee jump? Why wouldn't you! Want to join forces in a brand new multiplayer mode? The battle is on!"
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is one of three games THQ Nordic will reveal over the next two days. We will see a reveal on both the 6th and 7th of June. One of those reveals is heavily rumoured to either be a remake or a brand new entry in the long dormant Destroy All Humans franchise.
While SpongeBob won't be making an appearance at E3 2019, we're expecting a lot of delicious announcements over the next five days from Google, Microsoft, Square Enix, Bethesda, and more. If you want to stay afloat of all the announcements and reveals, then be sure to bookmark our E3 2019 hub.
