Silent Hunter Online announced as free to playPlatforms: All
An interesting little bit of news has just surfaced like a rocketing torpedo from the deep murky waters of Ubisoft HQ. They have announced the impending arrival of Silent Hunter Online, which will be a free-to-play browser based submarine simulation. Many may remember those dark days hidden in the depths waiting for something to hunt in previously releases from the series.
The game is being developed in that seemingly-not-quite-dying platform called Flash by the lovely BlueByte studios (the team behind Settlers and the ANNO series). At the heart of the game is “the Battle of the Atlantic”, an innovative dynamic campaign in which individual successes impact all other players through asynchronous gameplay. There is also the promise of playing every single mission in co-op, so we can all be merry aquanauts together.

No news on what free-to-play entails and whether it will be more 'freemium' than free, but it cannot hurt to give it one little go...
