Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has sold two million copies in ten days

FromSoftware's hard-as-nails follow-up to Bloodbourne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has sold more than two million copies in the ten days following its release, publisher Activision has announced.

Making the announcement in a press release for investors, Activision states that the two million copies sold account for all sales worldwide across PlayStation, Xbox One, and PC.

Michelle Fonseca, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Activision commented on the success story, saying "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has brought something very special and unique to Activision’s portfolio of games. It’s been an honor to work with FromSoftware to help introduce a brand-new franchise to gamers around the world".

Fonseca goes on to attribute the success and hype around the game to the fans, "The fans have made Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice one of the most incredible game launches of 2019 thus far. The game has performed well on all platforms including PC and we’re excited by the continued support from gamers and critics alike. It has been gratifying to see the enjoyment from fans when they overcome each challenge."

The press release also highlights how well Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice performed on Twitch on launch day, with the game being the most viewed game on the streaming platform. On launch weekend, 631 million minutes of Sekiro were watched on Twitch, with 1.1 billion minutes watched within one week.

It seems that people really like watching streamers infect the world with Dragon Rot.
