Red Dead Online shows its hand and has left beta!Platforms: Microsoft Xbox One | Sony PlayStation 4
Despite only learning earlier today that Red Dead Online would be leaving beta during the quarter, Rockstar have now taken us by surprise with the news that the updated, non-beta Red Dead Online is live NOW!
Today’s update to Red Dead Online brings a host of new gameplay including new cooperative story missions, Free Roam activities and the addition of Poker alongside a range of updates and improvements that strengthen and stabilize the foundational world of the Red Dead Online experience.
Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed during an earnings call with investors that Red Dead Online is set to leave beta before the end of the current quarter and will get a full release alongside what they describe as "significant new content".
This will include a number of new features including the ability to play poker, new co-op missions and more.
Zelnick also stated that the game has out-performed Grand Theft Auto Online to date saying "We have very high expectations for that title going forward". Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped 24 million copies since release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Rumours of a PC release being prepared continue, but as with the first game in the series there has been no official word on a non-console edition of the game.
