PlayStation's State of Play returns this week, promises

The PlayStation Blog has confirmed that PlayStation's State of Play is returning with a new episode on Thursday, May 9th at 11pm BST/3pm Pacific Time.

Sid Shuman, Director of Social Media at PlayStation, revealed that the short, ten minute episode will focus on providing an "extended look" at the PlayStation 4 remake of MediEvil.

Additionally, we'll be getting a "first look at a new title", as well as updates and announcements regarding upcoming PS4 releases. Will we see release dates for Iron Man VR or Concrete Genie perhaps?

PlayStation clearly want to get ahead of any speculation as they warn not to "expect any updates relating to our next-generation plans this time". PlayStation are well aware that after releasing the first details about the PlayStation 5 in April, everyone will be eagerly anticipating new information on the next-gen console.

The announcement concludes by stating that episode 3 of State of Play will be coming later in the year. I would anticipate the next episode hitting around or just after E3 in early June. PlayStation won't want to let Microsoft and Nintendo dominate the discourse for too long that's for sure.

State of Play's first episode was a doozy, especially for PlayStation VR owners, check out our extensive round up right here.

You'll be able to watch State of Play live on Thursday on all the usual PlayStation channels, including Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
