Old-school platformer Phantom Gear coming to Sega Genesis with KickstarterPlatforms: Retro
Bits Rule Games, alongside publisher Mega Cat Studios, has announced a Kickstarter campaign to bring their old-school platformer Phantom Gear to the Sega Genesis.
Check out the trailer below.
Phantom Gear aims to feature the best elements of classic action platformers, such as skill progression, big ol' boss fights, and animated cutscenes. Obviously all of this is dependent on a successful Kickstarter campaign, which kicks off on July 16th right here.
The story, according to today's press release, sees Josephine (the player character) trying to "put a stop to the power-mad cult and the mysterious phantom force behind their spree of carnage".
With a project such as this, the development of the title isn't the only thing that needs funding, Phantom Gear will also need enough support to be able to put the game on Sega Genesis cartridges in a classic Sega Genesis box.
The trailer and screenshots released thus far present the title very positively though, so support is likely to come rolling in, especially in the collector community.
