As part of the ‘Beyond’ series of updates taking place this year, Hello Games have announced that No Man’s Sky is to get VR support via PSVR and Steam VR on Playstation 4 and PC. This will be the full MMO experience the main game promises, not a cut down VR edition.
“I guess it’s not a huge surprise, but all of the team here is in love with everything sci-fi. Virtual reality feels like a little science fiction become real, and has always seemed like a perfect fit for this futuristic game of ours,” Hello Games’ Sean Murray told us over email as he confirmed the news. “It’s completely unique to land on a world that no-one has ever seen before and to really feel as if you’re there, and the team has worked so hard to make this a true VR experience rather than a port.”
Now we have some idea of the two of the three major tent poles of the Beyond updates – the MMO additions and VR, so time to get our thinking caps on and see if we can work out what the final update will be.
Xbox One users will unfortunately not benefit from the Virtual Reality upgrade as there are no VR options on the platform at present.
