Nintendo Switch XL coming this Summer?

Rumblings of a bigger, more powerful Nintendo Switch model have been bubbling away for some time and when it didn't appear in 2019 alongside the Nintendo Switch Lite many were surprised however, we now have more information from a trusted source that the delay was intended to allow the Nintendo Switch Lite time to establish itself.

We're hearing that a new model of Switch is indeed still incoming and will arrive in mid-2020/early Summer and will feature some improvements over the original including a larger 7 inch screen, 1080p handheld resolution, more storage, slightly redesigned Joy-cons that will cater for the larger form factor and better battery life. Our source tells us that Nintendo will be branding the new model the Nintendo Switch XL in line with their previous DS handheld branding.

In related news Digitimes are reporting that their upstream supply chain sources also are talking of a new model of Switch that will enter production in the first quarter of 2020 with a release in 'mid-2020'. We've reached out to our source to confirm the two stories are linked.
