Nintendo applies for an N64 Trademark in Japan hinting that the N64 Mini may be around the corner

Platforms: Retro

Japanese Nintendo has uncovered a trademark application from Nintendo for the term N64 for with uses to include "video game program, controller for game machine, joystick for video game machine, TV game machine and more". Does this hint that the N64 Mini is nearly here?

Many expect that Nintendo will be releasing a followup to their hugely successful NES Classic and SNES Classic retro mini consoles, so it is no stretch to assume that the Nintendo N64 will be next, however this isn't the first Nintendo 64 trademark to be filed in recent years.

One thing that might be a thorn in the side of a potential mini 64 bit console is the fact that it's arguably the weakest first party line-up of all of the Nintendo console. For it to be a strong proposition for retro gamers it may well need more third party licensing and support than the previous tiny devices.
