Metal Gear Online Goes Live

Platforms: Android | Sony PlayStation 4

The long awaited traditional multiplayer content for Konami's Blockbuster title "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" has gone live today, and is free to all players who purchased the game.

Metal Gear Online first arose in 2008 alongside Metal Gear Solid IV on the PS3, but never capitalized on its full potential, and in 2012 had its servers shut down. However, the new version of Hideo Kojima's online vision has been, "fully redesigned" relying on the powerful performance of its Fox Engine.

The squad based tactical shooter element of the game can be played on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, yet the PC port "remains on course" for an early 2016 release date.

Only time will tell if the game can live up to its overwhelming hype.
