Sega has announced that Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is coming to Nintendo Switch in Winter 2019.
The news was announced at Sega Fes 2019, with a trailer showing off the first gameplay of the two iconic mascots and their friends battling it out in a variety of Olympic sports.
Sega have obtained the Olympic license once again, after losing it to Ubisoft's Steep for its 2018 DLC expansion, Road to the Olympics. Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is the first game in the series since 2016's Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, released on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS.
As the reveal trailer shows, Mario & Sonic's latest Olympic adventure wasn't the only Olympics game revealed. Sonic's own Sonic at the Olympic Games was announced for iOS and Android, and will release in Japan in 2020. Tokyo 2020 Olympics The Official Video Game was also shown, featuring a realistic art style it appears to be a more traditional sports game. It will be releasing on PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2019.
All of the dates for the Olympic titles are for Japan, but you can be sure that there won't be much of a wait, if any, for the European and US releases.
