Here's our first look at the TARDIS in upcoming Doctor Who VR game

The iconic time-travelling police box appearing in upcoming VR title, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, has finally been revealed in a brand new trailer, ahead of the BBC demoing the game at San Diego Comic-Con this week.

Check out the TARDIS reveal trailer below.

Developed by Maze Theory, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time is a feature length VR game which sees players "co-pilot the TARDIS with the Doctor (voiced by Jodie Whittaker), exploring every nook and cranny and travelling across space and time to a series of wondrous locations, all within virtual reality."

The press release revealing the new trailer details the painstaking effort the recreation of the TARDIS required of the developers. The entire process apparently took the 3D artists, designers, sound and software engineers over 1200 hours to complete. It also sounds like players will be able to truly feel like the Doctor (or her assistant) as the "precise funcionality of the controls are true to the show, all behaving exactly as they do on screen". Hopefully those in attendance at SDCC will be able to report back on how accurate that claim is.

Doctor Who: The Edge of Time will release in September 2019 on PlayStation VR, Steam VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus, including the Oculus Quest.
