Guns of Icarus Online - New Video!Platforms: PC
Here at The Digital Fix we have been following the progress of Muse Games’ Guns of Icarus Online very closely indeed. We took our first look back in April, and followed that up with the lowdown from the developers themselves a couple of weeks later. Since then they have been working hard to perfect the game and get it ready for release, and we have the latest on their progress - and details of how you can see it all for yourself.
For those of you who haven’t heard of the game before, Guns Of Icarus Online is a co-operative airship combat game mixing together first-person shooter action with team-based strategy. Up to four players crew a ship, taking on one of the key roles of Captain, Gunner or Engineer, joining a team and fighting against other ships above a post-apocalyptic wasteland. As you can see if you read our interview Muse have ambitious plans for the game and this is the first real chance we have had to see how things are going.
As part of the game’s ongoing development Muse have been running a number of closed beta tests. The third one has just finished, which included the addition of cloud and cover mechanics, and you can see a video of the highlights here..
The next beta round will start on June 22nd and the developers are promising a new map, flamethrowers, major weapon balances, massively improved client and server performance and potentially new weather effects. You can pre-order the game (with a 25% discount) on their website and if you do this then you will also gain access to all upcoming beta tests. Alternatively you can go to their website and sign up for the newsletter - which will also give you a chance to join in with future betas.
So there you have it. It’s good to see that things seems to be progressing well, and hopefully the game will be ready for release soon. The list of planned features is certainly extensive but if Muse can pull it off then they might well have a hit on their hands.
As always, please remember to check back here on The Digital Fix for a full review once the game is released.
