Friday the 13th: The Game is coming to Nintendo Switch this Spring

Developer Gun Media has announced that Friday the 13th: The Game is slashing its way onto the Nintendo Switch.

Friday the 13th: The Game – Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition will include all previously released DLC, which means you can get your portable kill on with every Jason Kill Pack, the Emote Party Pack, and both Counselor Clothing Packs. However, the Savini Jason character that was exclusive to Kickstarter backers will not be included in the Switch version of the game.

“We’re happy to be bringing ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ to the Nintendo Switch with the help of our partners at Black Tower and Nighthawk. The Nintendo Switch offers a unique experience, in both social settings and on the go, that we feel work very well with ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’”, Gun Media’s Director of Communications, Daniel Nixon, told Variety.

Friday the 13th: The Game originally released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2017. The multiplayer game, based on the popular 80s slasher film series, Friday the 13th, pits seven counselors against formidable horror icon, Jason Vorhees. One player is chosen at the beginning of each round to stalk Camp Crystal Lake as Vorhees, while everyone else tries to escape or hide (my personal tactic) as a terrified counselor. Many gruesome deaths ensue.

While the game was a commercial success, development of new DLC had to be halted in June 2018, due to a dispute over rights and ownership of the original Friday the 13th film. With the game coming to a new console there is even more question over the rights issues than before.

Players will be able to stalk Camp Crystal Lake in Friday the 13th: The Game – Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition on their Nintendo Switch this Spring.
