Death Stranding is getting some kind of reveal on May 29th. Is a new trailer coming, or even a release date?

Platforms: Sony PlayStation 4

Update: Ahead of a new Death Stranding reveal tomorrow, May 29th, PlayStation are now streaming a looping video on Twitch. It doesn't tell us much as it's only the hand clips that Kojima has been tweeting. Check the stream out below.

Original story: Kojima Productions is teasing some kind of reveal on May 29th for their intriguing PlayStation exclusive Death Stranding.

The studio tweeted that the "countdown of Death Stranding has started", with a reveal of some kind to come on May 29th.

This reveal will likely be a new trailer, considering the last one we got was an entire year ago at E3 2018. It is no surprise that a new reveal is coming now though, especially as PlayStation won't be at E3 2019 in early June. So it makes sense for them to be teasing reveals now, at a time when their competitors are all gearing up for big announcements.

This tease follows a cryptic Kojima tweet yesterday, again with the tagline "Create the rope". Let's hope we find out about this rope on May 29th.

Is anyone expecting Death Stranding to release this year? Could Kojima surprise us soon with a 2019 release date? PlayStation's end of year release schedule is looking pretty baron as it stands, so something must be coming to fill in the gaps, right?

While Death Stranding is still scheduled to release on PS4, Sony are already teasing the PS5. The company recently showed off their next-gen console loading up Marvel's Spider-Man in less than one second, in a showcase of their focus to reduce or even remove loading times for games.

In the same demonstration, Sony confirmed and reiterated their plans to support backwards compatibility on the PS5. They confirmed that PS4 owners will be able to play online with PS5 owners, doubling down on a seamless transition into the next-generation.
