We Happy Few is no longer banned in Australia
We Happy Few had been banned in Australia took the gaming world by surprise, but developer Compulsion Games wasn't going to take the decision lying down and has successfully appealed the decision with the Australian Classification Review Board and the game has been granted a R18+ certificate meaning it is now able to be sold in the country.
No changes were made to the game's content to gain certification. In a blog post Compulsion games said "We are extremely pleased with the decision of the board and excited that our Australian fans and new players will be able to experience We Happy Few without modification."
We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial in the city of Wellington Wells. In this alternative 1960s England, conformity is key. You’ll have to fight or blend in with the drug-addled inhabitants, most of whom don’t take kindly to people who won’t abide by their not-so-normal rules.
Discover the retrofuturistic city’s dark history as you play through the intertwined narratives of three quietly rebellious citizens of Wellington Wells, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, as they face their pasts, prepare for the future, and engage in activities that aren’t exactly status quo in the artificially enthused society.
The game is to be published by Gearbox Software and is now due for release worldwide on 10th August.
