No Man's Sky is coming to Xbox One alongside its NEXT big update
Hello Games are to release No Man's Sky on Xbox One later this year. Despite being heavily criticised on release on Playstation 4 and PC, the game has undergone many significant updates and it's now much closer to the game that people were hoping it would be.
The Xbox One release is planned for the summer alongside a major content update that will add further features to the sprawling, beautiful, procedurally generated game. It'll also benefit from Xbox One X enhancements! No Man's Sky will be published by 505 Games both digitally and physically.
Coming in Summer 2018 is No Man's Sky NEXT, a free update for PS4, PC, Xbox and WeGame. It's our largest update so far, and we're working our socks off pic.twitter.com/wZhjaLMbsT— Sean Murray (@NoMansSky) March 29, 2018
The new update, No Man's Sky NEXT, will be "biggest update so far" according to Hello Games founder Sean Murray. The Xbox One version of the game will come with previous updates - Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises - and this new update, as part of the base release.
Murray said, "we called this update NEXT, because it's an important next step on a longer journey for us and the community. We’ve been working our socks off on this and it’s by far our biggest update so far. It will be free to existing players, and we'll continue to support No Man's Sky in this way for the foreseeable future."
Before it's release on PS4 it was considered a system seller with a huge number of previews hinting at the games massive and deep nature. When it was finally released however it was clear that a lot of the features that were promised didn't make the initial release and it wasn't quite the game fans were hoping for. Since then the game has added base building and a huge amount of new content and is definitely worth a revisit.
It's arrival on Xbox One is particularly surprising considering the game was thought to be a Playstation 4 console exclusive.
