Too little, too late? Star Wars Battlefront 2 Loot Boxes Go Cosmetic Only
More on Star Wars
Six months after release, EA, have announced that as of 21st March loot boxes in the heavily criticised Star Wars Battlefront 2 will no longer reward players with gameplay affecting rewards and only cosmetic items, emotes and credits will be delivered via the much maligned system.
When Battlefront 2 was released, it was roundly slammed for what was deemed a cash grabbing exercise by EA with many of the familiar characters in the franchise being available via loot boxes that could either by earned through micropayments or through many, many, many hours of gameplay.
EA said in a statement, "crates no longer include Star Cards and cannot be purchased. Crates are earned by logging in daily, completing Milestones, and through timed challenges. Inside of these crates, you'll find Credits or cosmetic items, such as emotes or victory poses, but nothing that impacts gameplay."
This removes the payment system from behind the loot boxes entirely.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC now.
