Obsidian delay Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire from its April releasePlatforms: PC
Obsidian Entertainment have announced that their 3rd April release of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has been put on ice in order for the developer to add extra polish to the game before it hits the market.
In an email today, the studio said "as you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game - significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian has been working harder than Abydon himself to make every inch of it awesome, as well as incorporating all the great feedback we have been getting from everyone playing the Backer Beta"
They went on to confirm the release would be shifted back a month; "with this in mind, we are taking just a few extra weeks to polish and put those finishing touches on the game. Our new launch date will be Tuesday, May 8th, 2018."
A month long delay isn't massive so it's pretty clear that any changes are going to be superficial and the game in its current stage isn't intrinsically broken. A little spit and polish can go a long way in the current gaming market.
