The Outer Worlds will require a massive 38GB patch on Xbox One on launch day - but gets 4K Xbox One X support

Platforms: Microsoft Xbox One | Sony PlayStation 4

The Outer Worlds is looking impressive - and it'll be even more impressive for Xbox One X owners thanks to the support of 4K textures and resolution on Microsoft's most powerful console - although that seemingly does come at the expense of a massive 38GB day-one patch for owners of the physical release.

PlayStation owners will have a slightly more manageable patch totalling around 20GB but they don't get the benefit of UHD textures, even on the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Digital editions of the game will launch with the patch already integrated so won't require additional downloads.

The Outer Worlds launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at midnight in the morning of 25th October. A Switch release is currently scheduled for 2020.
