Check out 11 minutes of brand new Blair Witch gameplay

Platforms: Microsoft Xbox One | PC

Courtesy of Game Informer's New Gamplay Today series, we've been treated to 11 minutes of brand new gameplay of Bloober Team's Blair Witch.

Check out the new footage below.

The video shows off some of the gameplay mechanics that will likely make up a great deal of your time with the game. One of those is the inclusion of a dog companion, who you can direct to do certain things with a menu wheel. And yes, you can pet the pup, with some of the best pup petting animations in the industry. The flashlight appears to work almost exactly as it did in Alan Wake, with the player directing light at the Witch's minions to stun them. Though they move exceptionally fast, promising tense encounters where you will be frantically searching for them in the darkness.

Blair Witch was announced at E3 2019 during Microsoft's press conference, with a short trailer that showed a very Alan Wake-esque style, right down to the flashlight, in a reveal that surprised almost everyone. Because who, really, was expecting Blair Witch to be making a comeback, especially with a video game, in 2019?

The developers at Bloober Team are the psychological horror maestro's behind Layers of Fear and the recent Layers of Fear 2. Be sure to check out our review of the creepy sequel.

Blair Witch releases on Xbox One and PC on August 30th, which means it's just over a month until you can get your spook on.
