New Nintendo Switch arriving in the UK in September with better battery life. How can you ensure you get an updated one?Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Following the recent news of the Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo have quietly announced another new version of the Switch - this time it's a minor improvement that brings with it an increased battery life.
The new model, which likely features the slightly updated NVidia Tegra X1 processor that is sitting inside the Switch Lite will see battery life increased to 4.5-9 hours - up from 2.5-6.5 hours that the current model is rated at.
Other than that, the comparison on the Nintendo Japan website shows no other changes in performance with the new model.
The new model is set for release in Japan and the US in August while it will arrive in the UK in early September according to a Nintendo spokesperson but there will be no fixed launch date and it will roll out replacing old stock at stores discretion.
If you're specifically after a newer model come September then ensure you check the serial number on the box - the new model will feature a serial starting with XKW. The existing models start with XAW - there is expected to be no other difference in the packaging between the two models.
