Pokémon GO developer Niantic has announced that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is launching on Android and iOS in the UK and US this Friday, June 21st.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is Niantic's second high-profile location-based augmented reality mobile game after the worldwide phenomenon that was Pokémon GO. Check out the live-action launch trailer below.
The game, which is essentially Pokémon GO for keen wizards and witches, sees players recruited by the Statute of Secrecy Task Force to prevent The Calamity from exposing Muggles to the world of magic. Your task is to travel the world searching for 'Foundables', which are overridden by Confoundable magic. Confoundable magic must be overcome with a variety of spells in order to save the Foundables and return them back to the wizarding world, away from unassuming Muggles.
Rescuing Foundables will grant the player rewards and a record of which Foundables you have returned, just like your Pokédex in Pokémon GO. The spells you cast drain your Spell Energy, so you'll have to visit Inns (Pokéstops) for food and drink to replenish your Spell Energy.
It looks like you'll be saving Harry Potter himself from those pesky Dementors too.

Releasing on Android and iOS in the UK and US (more regions coming soon) this Friday, June 21st, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is shaping up to be another augmented-reality success for Niantic.
