Batman: Arkham developer Rocksteady confirm they will not be at E3 2019

Platforms: Sony PlayStation 4 | Microsoft Xbox One | PC

Rocksteady Games, the esteemed developer of the Batman Arkham series, will once again be sitting out E3, ensuring that their next project remains shrouded in secrecy.

Rocksteady game director and co-founder, Sefton Hill, tweeted this week to put to rest any rumours of their highly anticipated follow-up to Batman Arkham Knight appearing at E3 2019.

Since the release of the excellent Batman Arkham Knight in 2015, fans have been clamouring for news on the studio's next project. Rumours have been floating around for years now, suggesting that the studio may be working on another DC property, which seems highly likely given the immense success of their previous DC efforts.

DC properties Rocksteady have been rumoured to have been working on include: Suicide Squad, Justice League, another Batman title, and a AAA comeback for Superman. All of which Rocksteady would be trusted to do justice, the studio became one of the industry's biggest names following the exceptional Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

Last year's E3 also saw a tweet from Hill giving an update on why the studio was not in attendance. If we had to bet on it, we'd wager that 2020, and a next-generation release is most likely for Rocksteady's next project. If we had to choose a developer to kick off the next-generation in style, Rocksteady would be top of the list every time.

While Rocksteady won't be in attendance, E3 2019 is still shaping up to be a fascinating weekend, with games being announced here, there, and everywhere. Check out our E3 Hub to keep track of it all, and peruse our E3 2019 expectations here.
