Capcom announce Capcom Home ArcadePlatforms: All
After teasing an announcement yesterday, Capcom today lifted the veil on their next product, the Capcom Home Arcade. As was speculated, it's a plug-and-play dual arcade stick that feeds directly into an HDMI enabled TV or monitor to deliver an authentic arcade experience.
Capcom seems to have gone all out with this device, including competitive grade Sanwa buttons and joysticks, WiFi capability for uploading high scores to online leaderboards for all 16 of its pre-loaded games, and...a case shaped like the Capcom logo?
Despite its peculiar design choice, the game selection that comes pre-loaded is quite stellar as it includes a wide variety of classic titles that throw back to Capcom's rich arcade history. Amongst the collection, there are some juicy titles such as Darkstalkers (new DS when Capcom??), Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting, and the revival of the excellent side-scrolling Alien Vs. Predator.
The most interesting part is the USB port on the back. The trailer clearly shows a micro USB port for power, an HDMI for output, and a proper USB port. What it could be is anyone's guess but it might mean that more games may be playable at some point in the future.
According to the official Capcom Home Arcade website, the device is up for pre-order at 230 euros and is releasing on October 15th. In the meantime, we'll be keeping our ear on the ground for some more news so stay tuned here on The Digital Fix.
