Documentary YouTube channel, Archipel, have released a fascinating documentary, focusing on the directors of Capcom’s flagship 2019 releases, Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2.
The forty-two-minute documentary boasts unprecedented access to Capcom’s Headquarters in Osaka, Japan, featuring compelling conversations with Hideaki Itsuno, director of the upcoming Devil May Cry 5, and Yasuhiro Anpo and Kazunori Kadoi, directors of January's critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake.
Throughout the beautifully shot video, the developers speak about their biggest gaming influences, the pressure that comes with remaking a beloved horror game, and the path that led them to direct two of 2019’s most anticipated titles. The documentary provides a captivating insight into what it’s like to work at Capcom, transitioning between the Resident Evil development floor and the Devil May Cry development floor.
It’s a rare sight to be able to see the wonderfully human side of game development; removing all barriers and hearing such honest passion about the video games that these developers have created is refreshing and definitely something we want more of in the video game industry.
