The Division 2 - Ubisoft warn of possible crash issues

Platforms: Microsoft Xbox One | Sony PlayStation 4 | PC

Ubisoft have posted ahead of the private beta launch of The Division 2 that there are certain circumstances that might result in the game crashing. Their advice for long play sessions is to restart the game every two to three hours to avoid this situation.

The advice and nature of the crash suggest a memory leak is the cause and as with most gaming releases the beta build is likely have been put together some time ago so this problem may well already be resolved in more recent code.

There is an additional issue relating to friend requests that may cause the game to crash.

Ubisoft's full advice is:

  • We are aware of an issue where your game client will crash after an extended gameplay session. To circumvent this, we recommend that you restart your game client every two to three hours.
  • Secondly, on all platforms, if you are outside the game and receive a game invite from a friend within the game, your client will crash at launch. To work around this problem, make sure to start the game first and join group directly from inside the game.

With the full game set to launch on PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 on 15th March, there is plenty of time for the developers to track down an blend these gremlins.
