Fatality! Mortal Kombat 11 has been announced!
Fans of the Mortal Kombat series are finally getting a new game three years after Mortal Kombat X, in the form of Mortal Kombat 11.
The game, announced at The Game Awards last night, received a trailer giving hints at the story and new features. It doesn’t give away too much, but publishers Warner Bros. has promised more information on 17th January at 7pm GMT with a gameplay reveal livestream.
Accompanying the trailer is a song by rapper 21 Savage written specially for the game, called “Immortal”.
It’s the newest iteration of the popular fighting series (if the “11” in the title didn’t give that away) that’s known for its brutal gore and action. It’s safe to say the announcement trailer confirms that’s still a part of the game. While we don’t know too much about it yet, Warner Bros. has revealed Custom Character Variations which let you configure your character to your tastes, perhaps to the creative extent of SoulCalibur VI. In addition the game enjoys a new graphics engine.
Developers NetherRealm Studios said of the customisation mechanic: “Our Custom Character Variation System opens up an infinite amount of options for players to personalize their favorite fighters. We can’t wait until January when we’ll be showing more of the game.”
Mortal Kombat 11 will release on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC on 23rd April 2019. Pre-orders are available already starting at £54.99, and gives access to a March beta for the game, as well as an in-game playable character.
