Animal Crossing in 2019, Cities Skylines out NOW and the rest of the best from Nintendo Direct

Last night's postponed Nintendo Direct brought with it a slew of new announcements - some had already slipped out due to the postponement but there was plenty to chew over and some exciting new games coming to Switch.

We'll start with one that was actually released overnight - Cities Skylines is on the eShop right now. One of the best city builders ever, having it on the Switch means that you can now take your city management wherever you go. It also features the After Dark and Snowfall DLCs as part of this release. We're working on our review of this right now.

Many were crying out for news of Animal Crossing coming to the Switch and they weren't disappointed with the announcement that the game is coming in 2019. Not only that, Animal Crossing's Isabelle is also jumping over to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Bundle. We'll be posting more on this one as soon as we can.

We've already covered Civilization VI which is landing on 16th November. This is another really exciting one for us and the first time the main Civ franchise has landed on console.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is making the jump over from Wii-U on 19th January with all of the brilliant four player platforming in tow. And Luigi is getting his own chance to shine again with Luigi's Mansion 3 hitting the console some time next year.

Katamari Dynasty Reroll should be with us by Christmas with a 'Winter' release date.

Yoshi's Crafting World continues to look lovely and is locked on for its Spring 2019 launch. Looking like a cross between classic Mario gameplay with a Little Big Planet aesthetic, we're quite excited by this one.

Asmodee are bringing board game fun with CarcassonneThe Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game, and Pandemic all arriving on the console in early 2019. Settlers of Catan is expected to follow at a later date.

Final Fantasy got an extremely strong showing with not only Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition, Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD,, World of Final Fantasy Maxima and Chochoco's Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! all out this year, but we're also getting a remaster of Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age AND ports of Final Fantasy 7Final Fantasy 9, and Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD.

Finally, Town, which probably isn't actually the game's name, is an RPG set in one small town that is invaded by monsters - it looks lovely and has the perfect home on the Switch.

This latest Direct literally covered all bases from fighters to strategy to platformers to board games and continues to cement the Switch as one the most inclusive platform of the generation.
