Star Trek Beyond finally gets the trailer it deserves

Last year's lacklustre Star Trek Beyond trailer had fans concerned about the latest film in the series, thankfully the second, if somewhat late-in-the-day trailer is far, far better.

Directed by Justin Lin, the film definitely appears to have a different style to the previous two J J Abrams instalments, possibly helped by the new director's Fast & Furious experience. This time around Simon Pegg and Doug Jung have picked up writing duties while the main cast of the previous two films all return. Idris Elba is the villain of the piece this time around.

The trailer shows the Enterprise getting a pretty severe pasting - we very much doubt it comes out of the movie in one piece.

Star Trek Beyond lands in UK cinemas on 22nd July.
