Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword defies critics with a barnstorming trailer

Guy Ritchie may have been on the receiving of a lot of heat with the announcement that he was to direct King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword, but if the first trailer is anything to go by it seems the pairing may just work.

When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword hits UK cinemas on 12 May and stars Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen and Eric Bana.
